Read the shoreline
Shore fishing is all about finding ambush points. Look for current seams, points, submerged vegetation lines, and transitions between sand and rock.
Match the conditions
On windy days, fish wind-blown banks with moving baits like spinnerbaits or paddle tails. Calm, clear water calls for finesse: weightless stickbaits and small jigs.
Time your session
Low light—first and last light—often triggers a bite window. If you fish tidal water, focus on the first hour of incoming or outgoing tide.
Recommended shore kit
- 7' medium spinning combo
- 10–20 lb braid with 10–12 lb fluorocarbon leader
- Topwater, jerkbait, 1/8–1/4 oz jigheads, and soft plastics
